My longtime friend and collaborator Alex Homan of Plake 64 & the Hexagrams, asked me to create an album cover that, at a glance, would look like an entry in the legendary Final Fantasy series. The Plake wordmark is hand-crafted along with faithful recreations of Final Fantasy III and FF Pixel Remaster assets like the crystal and text boxes. The entire design aligns to a seamless pixel grid, and in the tradition of the original FF games, the physical tapes feature the logo on a plain white field.

"You want to live in this world the way it is? No? Then do something about it!"

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster updated the classic games in some beautiful ways, but one thing that was lost was the iconic pixel font. I was unable to track down a perfect match and extracting the font files from old FF ROMs was a bust. So I decided to do something about it and designed this custom font specifically for Plake VII.
